Squirrels Anniversary

Just over a year ago we launched Squirrels at Dringhouses Scouts with the opening of two Squirrels Dreys, one on a Monday and one on a Friday. And what better way to celebrate the anniversary than with the presentation of our first Chief Scout’s Acorn Award. This is the highest award a Squirrel Scout can earn. It shows that they’ve had adventures, helped their friends, and learned new things – it’s a big achievement, and we’re very proud of this young man’s hard work and we’re looking forward many more being earned in the future.

Receiving the Acorn Challenge Award

As you can see he was a little bit happy to receive his badge and certificate (levitating upon receipt of awards is optional, but encouraged!):

Squirrels can join from age 4 and then move up to Beavers around their sixth birthday. Squirrels can achieve anything they set their minds to – and they have lots of fun along the way. The forty five minute weekly sessions are a brilliant opportunity for young people to take their first step into being part of Scouts, and it’ll help everyone get ready for the adventure of school too.

Sessions include outdoors activities, fun, games, badges, laughter, and so much more to help our youngest members learn the skills they need for life. Of course, none of it would be possible without the support of the amazing leaders who plan and deliver such an inspiring programme, most of whom are parents.

If you’re interested in your child joining Squirrels please  complete our joining form here. Also, please consider helping us to continue to provide this opportunity to our youngest members by volunteering a little bit of your time to help out, No prior experience or skills are needed and we can help by providing training and support as needed, please do reach out for a chat if you want to know more by contacting us here
