Twice per year, all sections need to do an emergency evacuation drill. This is to ensure all members know the process and what to do should the alarm sound.
Key steps volunteers on the alarm sounding:
- All young people to line up ready to evacuate, no stopping to collect possessions
- Move to muster area, leader in charge to complete a headcount from the OSM register.
- volunteer to check toilets, kitchen and any other spaces where people could be, as evacuation is happening and to confirm no one left in the building to the the leader in charge
- At present no volunteer or young person has a personal evacuation plan.
To avoid disturbing the neighbours and other hall users we use a recording, which you can access below, this plays on a loop, suggest you play this through the speakers in the TV cupboard on max volume, or, if you are using the Church Hall use a portable speaker.
The evacuation muster area is the grassy area in front of the Holiday Inn as shown in the image below.

Complete the form below once the drill has been done, you will need to know the time taken for the drill to happen, the number of group members present (this includes leaders and young leaders) and please also note any issues.
