Several members of the group were recognised at the North Yorkshire Scouts Celebration of Volunteer Achievement Event on the 21st March 2025. We are so lucky in our group to have such outstanding volunteers, many of whom not only support our group, but also support the wider District and County and event international events.

Annie Bennett received the Chief Scouts Award for Merit.
The Award for Merit is given for outstanding service of not less than 12 years and 10 years exceptionally. It implies keen, conscientious, imaginative and dedicated service over a sustained period.. Annie is the Chair of the Trustee Board and has been with the Group for more than 20 years. Annie has also brilliantly led the catering team at our annual group camps for many years, she looks after all our leases and hire agreements and also spends a lot of time applying for various grants and to numerous funds.
Frankie Delamere was awarded the Chief Scouts Commendation for Good Service.
The Chief Scout’s Commendation for Good Service is given in respect of not less than 5 years good service, which stands out. It should be regarded as the Chief Scout’s recognition of the very real contribution made to the Association by the individual concerned. Frankie, not only helps out at Explorers meetings and events, but has also spent not inconsiderable time supporting young people at County Events like Escape and the Larkin International Jamboree and she was also part of the International Service Team at the World Scout Jamboree in Korea.

David Thorne was presented with an Unsung Hero award for Team Work. As well as being our Lead Volunteer he also volunteers in an administration capacity with the wider District.,
Dave was nominated for the absolutely crucial role of managing the
constant administration needed to keep our Appointments Process running smoothly and efficiently. Through Dave’s constant diligence and creative spreadsheet management, his two nominators celebrated his admin skills and successes, and well as his mentorship in helping others with the process, to ensure that all new volunteers in Ebor get the warm and professional welcome they deserve.

The Larkin International Jamboree held over the summer last year (2024) saw many of our team help out too and this has also been recognised.
