Delivering #SkillsForLife to 300 Children and Young People in York

About Us

We are Dringhouses Scouts, based in the south of York, bringing fun and adventure to more than 300 children and young people between the ages of 4 and 18 years old. We are one of the largest of the 14 Scout Groups in the York Ebor District which supports more than 1000 Scouts.
The Group has been running since 1929, for more than 60 years in its current form, and we are incredibly grateful for all the support we receive from the local council, St Edward the Confessor Church and the local community as a whole.
We’re run entirely by volunteers who give their time in many different ways, from being leaders running the meetings and events, to supporting the Group as trustees, or just helping out occasionally. All our volunteers receive the training they need to fulfil their roles, giving up their own time for the benefit of our community.

The Sections

All our sections are open to everyone read a bit more about each age group below:

Squirrels

Squirrels is for children aged 4-5. We have three Squirrels Dreys who meet on a Monday, Tuesday or a Friday. Squirrels is a new age group for Scouts, but is extremely popular

Beavers

For children aged between 6 – 8 years, Our three popular Beaver colonies meet on Tuesday’s, Wednesdays and Friday’s

Cubs

Cubs is for children between the ages of 8 and 10½ years. Cubs is our largest age group and we have nearly 90 Cubs meeting each week during term time on Tuesday’s, Thursday’s and Friday’s
