Funding Success!

Young people at Dringhouses (PC) Scout Group are ready for even more fun and adventure thanks to support from The Dringhouses and Woodthorpe Ward Committee. At Dringhouses Scout Group there are over 240 six to 18 year-olds that enjoy fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in communities.

Each year the Ward Committee has funds available to local charities and organisations to help them provide activities or services that meet one of the Ward priorities. The priorities are:

  • Improving the local environment
  • Increasing community involvement
  • Improving access to services and support
  • Promoting community safety

Dringhouses Scout Group were lucky enough to receive funding to purchase brand new camping equipment so that even more young people can go on residential experiences. The equipment includes new tents, event shelters and catering equipment.

Liberal Democrat councillor Stephen Fenton Said: “I’m pleased that through the Dringhouses & Woodthorpe ward budget we have been able to support the fantastic work done by Dringhouses Scouts. One of our ward priorities is to increase community involvement, and so it is great that we are able to help the volunteers who give their time help run Scout groups and other community activities.”

Phil Bennett, Group Scout Leader had this to say; “The support from the ward grant scheme means that we can take even more young people on even more adventures”.
